A very tasty, traditional dish, also called gesmoorde hoender.


  • 12 portions chicken
  • 10 ml crushed garlic
  • 7 ml crushed


Wash and drain chicken. Mix together garlic, ginger, chillies, jeera, masala, cloves, peri-peri sauce and salt. Rub into chicken portions and set aside. Heat oil in a saucepan and braise onions until golden brown, 5–10 minutes. Add tomato and green pepper, and cook for about 10 minutes. Add chicken and cook for about 20 minutes. Add potatoes and simmer for 15 minutes, or until potatoes are soft
