In the “happily using up leftovers” category: I made this custardy bread pudding with stale challah and the extra coconut milk in my refrigerator, along with chopped dried apricots, coconut flakes, and a splash of dark rum. In France, French toast is called pain perdu (French for “lost” or “stale” bread). My Boozy Baileys Irish Cream French Toast made with stale brioche.
