The smell of this chicken as it cooks, more than any other food, reminds me of my mom’s kitchen. The seasonings—especially Lawry’s Seasoning Salt, created in 1938 for their Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills—are very much of her era. When I found a deconstructed version of the salt on the Web, I was delighted because I’m allergic to the MSG in the original. I combined it with the other seasonings my mom used for this homey, delicious chicken.
