Here, taros are cooked in much the same way as Caramelized Apples, but with the addition of sesame seeds to give extra crunch. This is much less sweet than caramelized apples, but equally delicious.
Fill a bowl with iced water, and set aside. Wash the taro pieces, then pat them very dry with kitchen paper.
Heat the oil for deep-frying in a wok or deep-fryer, and deep-fry the taro pieces, in batches, for about 3 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown.
