  • About

The ‘silver threads’ of the recipe title are cellophane noodles. In China these symbolize longevity and are often served at birthdays and other special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 50 g/2 oz dried lily buds
  • 150 g/5

Method

  1. Soak the lily buds in a bowl of warm water for 30 minutes or until soft. Meanwhile, soak the cellophane noodles in a separate bowl of warm water for 15 minutes.
  2. Drain the lily buds, rinse under water and drain again. Snip off the hard ends. Drain the noodles. Using a pair of scissors or a sharp knife, chop the strands into shorter lengths for easier handling.</
