In Chengdu, many versions of these cakes are popular as street food. Some are a simple blend of sweet potato and rice flour, as here, whereas others are filled with lotus seed or red bean paste. They are easy to make and you can eat them dipped in honey or even with ice cream.

  • 500 g/ lb orange-fleshed sweet potatoes, unpeeled
  • about 115 g/4

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Place the sweet potatoes on a baking tray and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour
