This is dedicated to a lovely and brave lady, Leine Watson. Her husband Simon gave me the recipe saying that “my grandmother’s cook, Miss Jeannie Robertson (but called Mrs. Robertson as was customary in a household with several servants to show her seniority) had been General Haig’s cook before joining my grandmother. Chocolate snuff box was said to be his favourite pudding”.
