At Downton, a Christmas pudding would have been served as dessert for the holiday dinner, as is done today. Traditionally, this iconic dish was called plum pudding (the word plum was understood as any dried fruit) and was a common companion to roast beef on festive days.
The first recorded recipe of plum pudding similar to what is made today is found in John Nott’s The Cook’s and Confectioner’s Dictionary, published in 1723. But the first time the pudding was associate
