Adding egg yolks to angel food cake—but still no butter or shortening—turns angel food cake into Sunshine Cake, a golden winner. Slathered with caramel crunch and whipped cream, this is the basis for Peanut Brittle Crunch Cake.

Ingredients

  • cups cake flour (not self-rising)
  • cups sugar
  • 6 large

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut a circle of parchment or wax paper to fit the bottom of a 10-inch tube pan, preferably one with legs or a removable bottom. Lay the paper in the pan; do not grease the pan.
  2. Sift the cake flour into a mixing bowl.
