Ingredients: 2 large eggs, lightly beaten; 1 cup peanut oil or other bland oil; 1 cup molasses; 1 cup sugar; ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon; 2 teaspoons baking soda; 2½ cups all-purpose flour; 1 cup boiling water; ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper; ½ teaspoon ground cloves; ¼ cup (about 2 ounces) minced, peeled fresh ginger, or to taste; Lemon Cream (optional)
