Ingredients: Zest of 1 orange, removed in strips with a vegetable peeler; Zest of 1 orange, removed in strips with a vegetable peeler; ¾ cup sugar; ¾ cup cold water; 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine, such as Spanish Rioja; 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine, such as Spanish Rioja; Juice of ½ orange; 2 cinnamon sticks; Very thin orange slices, for garnish; Beaujolais or Merlot; Beaujolais or Merlot

Method

Follow the instructions for the Coarse-Crystal Wine Ice, adding the orange zest and cinnamon sticks to the syrup with the lemon zest in step 1. Discard the zests and cinnamon sticks before adding the orange juice and wine. Serve the granita garnished with the orange slices.
