As all fish and shellfish are forbidden in the Buddhist vegetarian diet, real shark’s fin is, of course, out of the question for anyone adhering to it. But cellophane or glass noodles are allowed, and when cut into shorter lengths, they can, especially at a quick glance, give the impression of being shark’s fin needles.
