Roses are the easiest of flowers to gather and dry. My mother gathers rose petals all summer so that by the autumn she has a good supply of ingredients for this traditional pot-pourri.
Measure all the ingredients except the rosebuds into a large bowl and gently mix together with a wooden spoon. Cover with cling film and leave in a warm place for 1-2 weeks, stirring every day, until the scents have combined.
Spoon into one large or several smaller pots or bowls and sprinkle the rosebuds on top.
