This is an easy recipe for this rich and delicious treat of crisp, melt-in-the mouth shortbread base topped with golden caramel and a layer of chocolate.

For the shortbread

  • 200 g (7 oz/ cups) plain (all-purpose) flour

Method

To make the shortbread, preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4. Put the flour, sugar and vegan spread in a large bowl and rub together with your fingertips until a crumbly dough forms. This can also be done by blitzing the mixture in a food processor.
