Peel the potatoes thinly, and cut into slices ⅛ in. thick. Melt the fat in a frying-pan, add the potatoes and onion. Cover and cook over a low heat until tender (about 35 minutes). Turn several times during cooking. Combine salt, pepper and the ketchup and spread over the potatoes. Cover and cook for a further 10 minutes, turning the mixture again.
