This halva, which is very simple to make, is wonderful with some good, strong, Persian Gulf coffee. It’s interesting that in Tabriz they make the same halva using grape molasses instead of date molasses and call it black halva. Another variation is to replace the date molasses with 2 cups/350g pitted dates soaked in 1 cup/240ml water for 30 minutes and pureed in a food processor.
