Peel the onion and push the cloves into it. Simmer gently with the milk and a tablespoonful of water for 20 minutes. Remove the onion, or, if you like it, remove the cloves and chop and crush it well into the milk. Add the breadcrumbs. Stir well. Add butter and seasoning. Stir again, and leave on th
