Mushrooms on Toast


Per person

  • 3 medium mushrooms
  • 1 strip of hot buttered toast, 1 × 3 in. (2 × 6 cm.)
  • salt and fresh black pepper
  • ½ oz. (15 g.) butter


Fry the mushrooms very gently and keep hot while the toast is made and buttered. Arrange three on each strip and sprinkle with salt and plenty of fresh black pepper.

This very simple savoury is best made just before it is to be eaten. It will take about 5 minutes to fry the mushrooms.
