To make these cookies, you need two different kinds of dough, one chocolate and one plain. Each dough gets rolled into ropes that are then pressed together to make the checkerboard pattern.

Ingredients

  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
  • ½ recipe Buttery Cookielike Pie and Tart Dough
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • ½<

Method

On a work surface dusted with confectioners’ sugar, roll the two doughs with the flats of your hands into sausage shapes each having the same diameter of about inches. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper, or use 2 nonstick sheet pans. Return
