Vinny’s Hot Beef

The guys from Engine 319 in Middle Village, Queens, used to tell me about Vinny Mattone’s Hot Beef all the time. This dish is simple and spicy. Some of the guys at the firehouse made it to take to the parties they were going to around the holidays. Vinny’s family puts it on rice, in a sandwich, on fried eggplant, or eat it as is. He says they serve it at every family get-together. Just make sure you have a nice cold glass of water nearby.
