This is a combination of two of my favorite flavors. Sometimes I add ½ teaspoon of freshly ground white pepper to the spice blend for a little punch.

Method

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and spices; stir well to mix.
In the bowl of a standing electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter and both sugars on medium speed until well mixed, about a minute. Then beat in the orange zest and extract.
