These cookies bring out the delicacy of an almond-butter combination better than any other cookie I know. The covering of sliced almonds on these crisp, delicate cookies gives them a little extra crunch. Marilyn Miller was kind enough to share this recipe for which I had been searching for years.

Ingredients

  • 18 tablespoons ( sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • cups sugar

Method

  1. Set racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees.
  2. In the bowl of a standing electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter, sugar, salt, and vanilla on medium speed until soft and light, about 5 minutes.
