Wiener Mandelgipferl

These fragile nut cookies are similar to but more delicate than the Pecan Butter Balls. There are recipes for this cookie that call for either walnuts, hazelnuts, or almonds. I prefer almonds—their delicate flavor seems most in keeping with this very subtle cookie. Thanks to Nancy Berzinec, Paul Kinberg, and Phil Krampetz, who shared their various recipes.
