Preserves or jam straight from the jar may be too thin to couple cookies together. They might become watery and soak into the cookies or ooze out. Heating and reducing the jam makes for a more reliable filling and glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup jam

Method

  1. Place the jam in a saucepan and stir it off the heat with a small wooden spoon until it liquefies. Place over low heat and bring to a simmer. Let the jam simmer for about 3 or 4 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  2. Use the jam while it is hot.
