“This delicious, comforting custard is made with nourishing ingredients and features festive spices cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg. It gets its colour from turmeric, which is loaded with healing properties. This is great with a crumble, stewed fruit or on its own.”

Ingredients

  • 2 green cardamom pods
  • 450 ml/15½ fl oz/ cups

Method

  1. First crush the cardamom pods using a pestle and mortar. Remove the pods and lightly crush the seeds.
  2. Take roughly 100ml/3½fl oz/scant ½ cup of the milk and pour it into a cup. Whisk in the cornflour/cornstarch until there are no lumps and it has fully dissolved. Set aside.
  3. Add the rest of the milk to a saucepan with the sweetener, vanilla, salt, crus
