A frikadelle is a meatball made with minced pork and veal, but it can be made with fish as well. In Copenhagen the meat mixture can be bought already minced together, so you just need to add your own spices and flavourings.


  • 300 g minced pork
  • 300 g minced veal
  • 2 tbsp


With your hands, mix the minced pork and veal with salt, pepper and flour, then add the juniper berries and grated onion. To taste for seasoning, fry a tiny amount in a small amount of butter. Adjust seasoning if required. Beat the egg, add to the meat mixture and mix well to combine.

Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip a large oval spoon in the butter, then use to tak
