You don’t need jumbo, out-of-season, out-of-state, or exotic fruits for this. It is usually made with fruit that is too ripe, too small, or too blemished to be acceptable for serving in a panier de fruits de saison (basket of fresh fruits).
So look around your market for good buys of seasonal fruits. There’s no special list to follow, but you do need a varied selection.
