The legend of the couque de Dinant takes us to the attack on the Walloon town of Dinant during the Liège Wars in 1466. Charles the Bold sent troops to crush the rebellion; they burned down Dinant and murdered 800 civilians. The townsfolk, deprived of food and desperate, made a dough of flour and honey and created a rock-hard honey cake. They then threw them at the Burgundian army to force a retreat.
