Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 250 g (9 oz) plain (all-purpose) flour
  • 1 level teaspoon

Method

MAKE THE CAKE. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas 4). Combine the flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Mix in the butter with an electric beater, then the eggs, demerara sugar and coffee. Keep beating for about 1 minute until the batter is smooth and uniform.
