Di-Ice

Another summer favourite of mine when I was a kid was spending whatever loose change I could sweet talk out of my mom on sachets of frozen concentrated drink blends like Sweet and Kool-Aid. On almost every other street there was a house where we knew ‘di-ice’ were sold. During the December summer holidays, you’d find us boys sitting under a tree after a long day of ball kicking or playing marbles munching away on these frozen blocks of happiness.

It’s only now when I look back that
