  • About

This method allows you to get a good amount of char to your toast without making it dry or burnt. It goes splendidly with masala beans, orange and star anise marmalade or pineapple and pink peppercorn jam.

Ingredients

  • 1 large slice of sourdough bread
  • 10 g butter, melted

Method

  1. Warm a cast-iron griddle pan over a medium-high heat.
  2. Place the slice of sourdough in the warmed pan and cook for 1–2 minutes, or until golden brown with darker stripes. Flip over and brush the cooked side with melted butter. Cook the second side for 1–2 minutes, then remove the toast from the pan and serve immediately.
