In 1946 I was on the road with my husband Dooky and his band. He had twin vocalists from Mobile in the band. After a long bus ride from Miami, we stopped at the home of the twins. Musicians were always starving in those days, so we showed up with quite an appetite. The twins’ mother had just caught about six big flounder out of Mobile Bay. She prepared them in just this fashion. I thought it was the best-tasting fish—unless I was just starving!
