Foraging for wild foods has always had a personal attraction for me. It started years ago when I read Euell Gibbons’ classic Stalking the Wild Asparagus and Billy Joe Tatums Wild Foods Cookbook and Reid Guide. Purslane is basically a weed (Portulaca oleracea) that grows in many parts of the country. It has the texture of a succulent and a tart, citric flavor. My grandmoth
