This type of “beaten” batter rises when baked. Genoa loaf flavored with chocolate makes an excellent base for desserts, and is delicious on its own.

Ingredients

  • 2 ⅔ oz. (75 g) milk chocolate, 40 percent cocoa
  • 3 tablespoons plus

Method

Preheat the oven to 325°F–350°F (160°C–170°C).

Melt the butter. Chop the chocolate and melt it in a bowl over a bain-marie or in the microwave oven (on “defrost” or at 500 W, stirring from time to time). Stir in the hot melted butter.
