  • 3 potatoes
  • ½ carrot

Method

Place the potatoes, cut into quarters, the carrot, finely sliced, half the parsley and the onions, finely chopped, into 3-4 litres (5-7 pt) boiling water and cook over a moderate heat until the potato is half done; then add the bay leaves, half the leek slices and the peppercorns.
