Soak the poppy seeds and the beans separately for 10 hours. Drain the poppy seeds and crush in a mortar. Cook and mash the potatoes. Boil the beans for 2 hours then mash well to a purée consistency. Heat the crushed poppy seed and add to the beans along with the onion, finely chopped, mashed potatoes, sugar, pepper and parsley; mix well.
