Method

Scald the almonds in boiling water first to remove the skins, then crush them thoroughly in a mortar. Combine all the ingredients and mix together thoroughly to obtain a uniform paste, adding the cherries last. Spoon the paste into a well-greased baking pan and bake in a moderate oven (180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4).
