The basic ingredients are: flour, yeast, warm milk, butter and salt in the following proportions. Sometimes, but rarely, 1 egg is included.

Ingredients

  • 900 g (2 lb) flour
  • 40-45 g (1½-1¾

Method

Mix all the ingredients together, adding the egg if desired after the milk, to form a dough. Make into a ball, cover and leave for an hour in a warm place.
