Ingredients

  • 2-3 lightly salted herrings
  • 250 ml (8 fl oz) milk

Method

Clean and fillet the herrings and soak for 10-12 hours in the milk. Cut into 1 cm (½ in) pieces; spread in an even layer on a plate. Slice the onion into rings and spread over the herring. Pour thick sour cream over the top and sprinkle with the dill. Serve with hot boiled potatoes.
