  • 3 herrings
  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 tablespoonsolive oil

Method

Fillet the herrings and soak in milk for 8-10 hours. Cut up finely, mix with the chopped hard-boiled eggs, olive oil, dry mustard and dill into a uniform mass. Cut the black bread into 1½ cm (¾ in) slices, dry out briefly in a warm oven and butter whilst still warm. Then spread each slice with a 1-1½ cm
