  • 3 lb. plums
  • 1 lb. apples
  • 1 lb. onions
  • 1 lb. stoned raisins
  • 1 lb. sugar
  • 2 oz. salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 pint vinegar

Method

Stone the plums and roughly chop. Peel, core and chop the apples and peel and chop the onions. Chop the raisins. Put all the ingredients into a preserving pan or large saucepan and simmer gently until thick, about 11/2 hours. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal. Leave for about 2 months before using.
