Sloe Gin


  • 1 lb. sloes
  • few drops almond essence
  • 4 oz. sugar
  • 1½ pints gin
Stalk and clean sloes. Prick all over with darning needle and put into screw-top jar with sugar and essence. Fill up with gin, screw down tightly and leave in a dark place for 3 months, shaking occasionally. At the end of this time, open the jar and strain through muslin until clear. Bottle and leave until required.
