  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups


  1. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the grapefruit juice and cool. Chill thoroughly.
  2. Pour the mixture into the container of an electric or hand-cranked ice cream freezer and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Serve individual portions, if desired, with crème de cassis and a touch of cold vodka poured over.
