  • 6 apples, peeled, quartered and cored
  • 250 g (8 oz) white granulated sugar

Method

To cook the apples

Place the sugar and water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and cook, stirring occasionally over a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and a dark caramel is formed.
