Jamu is an Indonesian traditional herbal drink. This particular drink is characterized by its bright yellow color, due to the usage of turmeric. To make this recipe, choose a young tamarind with a lighter color.

  • 1.5 liter water
  • 2 sheets pandanus leaves
  • 5

Method

Directions

  1. Pour water into a large stock pot. Add all other ingredients. Bring to boil over low heat. Strain the liquid, discard the solids. Set aside to cool.
  2. Drink kunyit asam while it’s warm or add ice cube if you prefer to have it more refreshing cold drinks.
