These tea loaves keep well, once wrapped and stored, and they also freeze well. You can prepare the dates the night before baking.

Ingredients

  • teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 150 ml/5 fl oz/

Method

Grease and flour two loaf tins. Place the dates in a bowl, mix the bicarbonate of soda with the boiling water, pour it over the dates and leave until cold. Cream the butter and sugar and add the beaten eggs, alternating with some of the flour.
