With orange flower water and almonds, there is a hint of the Mediterranean in this and the next, very different, recipe.
Line or grease two baking sheets.
Sift the dry ingredients together, stir in the sugar and rub in the butter. Mix to a paste with the syrup, orange zest and juice, and orange flower water. Roll into large walnut-sized balls and place on the baking sheets, well spaced. Flatten slightly and scatter the almonds on top. Bake at 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden
