Heat the oil and gently fry the onion and garlic until transparent. Now add everything else except the spare ribs and cook for a further 10 minutes or so till you have a thick red paint.
Grill the ribs gently for about 40 minutes over a drip tray (serve any juices as sauce), while you apply the basting liquid to them with a paint brush and turn them from time to time. The ribs are ready
