Brush the halved rabbits with oil and brown them on both sides over a very hot fire.
Then raise the rack over the fire and grili them more slowly for about 25 minutes. Mix the basting ingredients together. Baste the rabbits with the mixture, turning them often. Stick a sharp knife or skewer into the rabbits - they are cooked once the juices run clear.
