Spicy and slightly caramelized, this rice dish is a great accompaniment to most meat dishes.
Wash the soaked rice under lots of cold running water until the water runs clear and drain.
Heat a little vegetable oil in a pan and cook the onions until they are well browned.
Add the cinnamon, bay leaf, cloves, and nutmeg and sauté for 5 minutes.
Add the sugar and let it caramelize, but do not let it burn.
